The October Torex Auction

Auction Details

Five specialty collections highlight the October 27-29, 2011 MOORE’S auction sale, held in conjunction with TOREX coin show in Toronto, Ontario. On Thursday, Oct. 27th. The Morris Norman collection of medals, tokens and scrip relating to the Hudson’s Bay Company and the North American Indian trade will be sold. Listed as lots 1210 through 1398, the collection is the most complete and extensive Hudson’s Bay Company collection to be offered for sale in two decades. Also, on October 27th, the most complete collection of bank notes ever assembled from The International Bank of Canada, listed as lots 1425 through 1540, will also be sold as part of the banknote portion of the auction sale. Three very rare serial number one notes from the Dominion of Canada will also be auctioned. The third specialty collection to be auctioned in Session One on Thursday is a collection of tokens attributed to Thomas Church of Ottawa, lots 1125 through 1206. The collection is one of the most extensive to ever be auctioned in Canada.
A final specialty collection of War Savings Certificates will also be sold on Thursday in lot number 1772 through 1785, including an example that is unique to the collecting public. Session three on Saturday, October 29th featured the Ronald Greene collection of Canadian Savings Banks, sold in lot number 3301 through 3594. Built over five decades, it is the largest and most extensive collection of its kind to ever be auctioned in North America. MOORE’s also offers in the TOREX auction over 2000 additional lots of primarily Canadian and Newfoundland coins, paper money, tokens and medals, as well as collections of world and ancient coins.
