50 Cents. 1892. Obverse 4. ICCS graded Very Choice Uncirculated-64. While far from the lowest mintage in the Victorian 50 cent series, the 1892 nonetheless is a remarkably scarce piece in high circulated grades, and almost unheard of in mint state. ICCS has graded only three examples above MS-60, with just another pair graded by PCGS. This is effectively equal to the total quantity of just four 1890H's graded by the two services combined, an astonishing fact considering that the mintage for the 1892 is more than 7.5 times greater than that of the 1890H.

This extraordinary coin holds the honour of being the solo finest graded by ICCS. The overall smoky-grey toning cannot conceal the lustrous surfaces below, nor the sharply struck details, which show strong hairlines and jewels on the obverse and boldly struck denomination, date, and wreath on the reverse. Only close inspection with a loupe will reveal a few tiny imperfections; so few in fact that one might surmise that the assigned grade is somewhat conservative. An outstanding centrepiece for the advanced and discerning collector.
